Xerox Phaser 8500
By Darreltech68 • Dec 4th, 2008 • Category: Xerox Ink Printer ReviewsWhile considering a new color printer I looked at several different companies and came to the conclusion that the Xerox Phaser 8500 was the best way to spend my money. I couldn’t be happier! The printer is far faster than I ever needed and is close to the Xerox quoted speed; I can print a 24 page document in about a minute and a half, maybe less. I work from home but for a large corporation that requires professional quality regardless of the application. This printer delivers great quality with a somewhat glossy finish to the printed colors, probably due to the solid ink.
The Xerox 8500 ink is a fantastic invention as it creates very little waste, and is essentially a crayon. No mess, no fuss. I can add new solid ink at any time, even if it isn’t empty saving me the headache of replacing toner cartridges part way through a print job. Although the “low ink” indicator comes on too early in my mind; my indicator has been on for 400+ pages and this may lead to a person running out. The printer does need to heat or warm up when you first turn it on and can have a faint waxy smell as the ink is melted.
The Phaser 8500 color representation, although good, may not render the colors the way a person or office would expect and has its own “style.” I don’t print too many photos, but when I do the color is not quite as it should be and falls a little short of high end inkjets and photo printers, a very small annoyance in the grand scheme of things. The printer has great expandable features and I opted for the full memory of 512 MB to handle larger and more complex files as well as an additional paper tray to add to my capacity. I would recommend this printer to any home or small office.
