OFFICIALFRED300 Troubleshooting Xerox Ink Streaking Problems

When using a Xerox Phaser solid ink printer you may experience some streaking in the produced prints. There are a few areas to examine prior to contacting a service professional, and most of the time a service technician is not needed.  First look for the “fault” codes on the display of the printer; if present they will tell the user what to correct. The code 07,005.47: means that the pins that lift the maintenance drawer are worn. When the pins are worn the drum is not properly oiled and will not deliver the ink as needed to produce the document in its entirety.

Replacing these pins will alleviate the problem, but for a quick fix plastic sleeves may be put over them to allow the printing to continue in the short term. The other code to look for is 15,004.45: which indicates that one or both of the internal lamps in the drum is burnt out.  This is actually a simple fix but will require the purchase of a special set of TORX screwdrivers to complete. Should this not fix the problem the drum heater will more than likely need to be changed.  Unless you have extensive experience in the mechanics of heating drums, have a service technician perform this task.

If these codes are not present then a clog in the print heads is a likely cause.  To unclog the print heads, gently remove the print head assembly from the printer and place it on a soft cloth or paper towel.  Next, using a lent free towel or cloth that has been lightly dampened, gently blot the individual print heads to loosen the clog.  Always use distilled warm water to prevent any impurities form entering the Phaser ink print head assembly.  Reassemble the assembly and check if the clog is free.  Repeat if necessary making sure the print heads are dry before proceeding.
