Xerox Phaser 8200

The Xerox Phaser solid ink 8200 color printer is designed to give medium to large work groups the processing power and software options to produce quality color documents; this printer is priced around $500.00.

The Xerox 8200 ink printer delivers a fast processor of 500 MHz and a maximum memory of 512 MB which is better than average; however, the base model does not come with networking capabilities and will need to be added or choose the 8200DN, 8200DP or 8200Dx models that have it standard. USB and parallel ports are standard, but no cables are included. A 20 GB hard drive accompanies the higher end models and is option with an upgrade package for the base model; duplexing is also standard on these models. The Phaser 8200 supports multiple systems like Windows, Mac, UNIX, and Novell and a 625 installed input capacity beats the competition; a maximum of 1,675 can be installed via expansion paper trays. The printer can handle a variety of media styles including heavy cover stock and cards, but is limited to a maximum legal size.

Color and text printing is mediocre at best; it should be noted that increasing the resolution will improve the quality of print but slow the printing speed. The Phaser 8200 prints at 26 pages per minute in color and black and white as it uses solid ink technology and first printed pages are out in 6 seconds. Cost per printed page is close to $.11 for color, and slightly lower for black and white documents. Xerox has included their CentreWare software to manage any printer on your network as well as their PrintingScout to alert you to any issues during the printing process via email alerts and on screen messages. In addition a usage analysis tool enables the printer to anticipate your usage and will adjust power save modes and times accordingly; automatic color calibration delivers the same color output on each and every print while an 85,000 page monthly duty cycle supports large printing demands.

The Xerox 8200 solid ink printer delivers more features than their competitors but falls short on the low resolution print quality; the use of better resolutions will help but will also slow down the print speed.
